My background originated from an immersion in Teaching and Learning as a student, teacher, Assistant Principal, DET Consultant, UOW Tutor and an Honorary Fellow. My interest in Art and Painting began in Bathurst Teachers’ College (now Charles Sturt University) during lectures in Art and Craft by Mr Dixon and others. My membership in the College Art Club certainly augmented my passion for the creative arts as well.
More recently, for nine years now, I have been studying landscape, seascape and portrait painting through online courses provided by the Learn to Paint Academy and the Realistic Acrylic Portraits School.
Being a musician and violin maker, I broadly view painting as an integral part of the Creative Arts. While we are all made in the Creator's image, and in the Bible Jesus is called the Creator of all things, it stands to reason that He has created all of us to be creators such as writers, poets, engineers, designers, leaders, artists, sculptors and so on. It may be argued that through Christ’s work of redemption and sanctification, the Creative Arts exist for His greater purpose and glory, as we allow Him to take control of our lives, including our creative processes.
James Banks (2024, 13/11) in Our Daily Bread, reminds his readers that, “Those who are kind benefit themselves” (Proverbs 11:17). The Epistles teach us to consider others’ needs and do what we can to help and encourage them, especially those families who are displaced because of their faith, and who consequently have nothing or very little to fend for themselves, let alone for the needs of others. Kindness and generosity are part of God’s character, and He loves to see these traits expressed in our own hearts and lives. Solomon summed up the matter well: “Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (v. 25). Hence, the whole ethos behind this website is to use our creativity in support of those who are dislocated, marginalised,
